About Configuration Management

The purpose of this process area is to establish and maintain the integrity of work products using configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits. Establish baselines by identifying the items to place under configuration control, implementing and maintaining a configuration management system, and then creating the baseline for use. Track and control changes to the items under configuration control. This includes tracking the change requests for the configuration items and controlling the changes made to the configuration items. Establish the integrity of the baselines by keeping configuration management records and performing baseline audits.
